Rentrak Divisions

In an effort to better distinguish the roles and obligations of each of Rentrak's ever-expanding catalogue of existing and future services, the company was divided into two distinct operating divisions in 2005: Pay-Per-Transaction® and Advanced Media & Information.

Pay-Per-Transaction® (PPT) Division

Rentrak's Pay-Per-Transaction (PPT) division focuses on the delivery of rental and sales data pertaining to home entertainment content products to home video specialty stores and other retailers.

First introduced in 1988, Rentrak's PPT model has since revolutionized the home entertainment industry for both retailers and content providers; retailers can acquire home entertainment content products from major studios at a low cost, while studios not only share in the retailers' revenue but also benefit from Rentrak's business intelligence. In accordance with the PPT model, Rentrak distributes DVDs for every major studio and independent program supplier offering their titles on a revenue sharing basis. Utilizing our advanced reporting capabilities, we collect, process and audit more than one billion transactions each year, enabling clients to make more knowledgeable, prompt business decisions.

Two decades after its implementation, the PPT model has helped earn Rentrak the title of the world's leading processor of rental and sales data for revenue-shared home DVD rentals.

Advanced Media & Information (AMI) Division

The purpose of Rentrak's AMI division is to expand the customer base of our Essentials business intelligence services, offered primarily on a recurring subscription basis.

As the leader in comprehensive performance data for movies from the moment they debut in theaters through their in-home entertainment life (DVD, video rental and retail, and on demand television), Rentrak's goal is to build a comprehensive database and reporting system across an entire spectrum of entertainment products and delivery mechanisms. In an effort to achieve this goal, we've implemented convenient à la carte and bundled capabilities (usage tracking, transaction processing, auditing and reporting), each geared specifically for electronic delivery through our Essentials software. These service brands provide content providers, network operators and others with a trusted, independent third party to aggregate and report their data, while also aiding retailers and content providers in gaining more effective and timely insight into their businesses.
